A total of 1,178 cases of intussusception requiring surgery were isolated from the database. The inclusion criteria were surgical patients with intussusception. A retrospective study was conducted using data from the National Inpatient Sample from 1998 to 2006. There is limited knowledge regarding enteric and colonic surgical intussusception patients and their associated conditions. more Adult intussusception is a rare entity representing 1% of all adult bowel obstruction, hospital admissions secondary to intussusception historically has ranged between. Conclusion: A small but significant proportion of patients undergoing RYGB had abnormalities on preoperative screening esophagogastroduodenoscopy. No gastric or duodenal cancers were identified. Forty-two patients (6.6%) were determined to have at-risk gastric remnants, including gastric polyps in 15 patients, gastric ulcers in 15 patients, Helicobacter pylori infections in eight patients, duodenal ulcers in three patients, and duodenal polyps in one patient. There was no morbidity or mortality associated with the esophagogastroduodenoscopies. Results: Of the 764 patients reviewed, 636 patients had a preoperative screening esophagogastroduodenoscopy. All patients who underwent preoperative esophagogastroduodenoscopy were reviewed for abnormalities. Methods: We reviewed prospectively collected data on 764 patients who underwent laparoscopic Roux-en-Y gastric bypass from August 2001 to December 2005 by a single surgeon. Objective: To determine the incidence of preoperative endoscopic abnormalities in patients undergoing Roux-en-Y gastric bypass. In order to establish guidelines for the management of this at-risk gastric remnant, the incidence of preoperative endoscopic abnormalities must be established. The identification of preoperative endoscopic abnormalities in a patient undergoing Roux-en-Y gastric bypass theoretically creates an at-risk gastric remnant. Ulcers, bleeding, and malignancy in the gastric remnant have all been reported. Roux-en-Y gastric bypass, the most commonly performed procedure, results in the creation of a gastric remnant, which is inaccessible by conventional esophagogastroduodenoscopy. more ABSTRACT ABSTRACT Background: The number of Americans undergoing weight loss surgery annually has more than quadrupled since 1998, with 242,000 operations performed in 2008. Patient satisfaction was high, and functional impairment was low.ABSTRACT ABSTRACT Background: The number of Americans undergoing weight loss surgery annually has. Functional results were good at long-term follow-up despite radiographic changes in the radiolunate joint in 73% of patients. Conclusions: Scaphoid excision and 4CF remains a reliable procedure for patients with advanced wrist arthritis. Seventy-three percent of radiographs showed minimal to moderate joint destruction, and 27% showed severe joint destruction. QuickDASH scores averaged 7.8 (range, 0-32.5), with only 1 score above 16. Average extension/flexion arc was 68.6° (0°-96°), and radial/ulnar deviation arc was 32.9° (0°-5°). Scapholunate advanced collapse was the etiology in 13 wrists and scaphoid nonunion advanced collapse in 2 wrists. Average follow-up postsurgery was 18 years (11-27).

Average age at surgery was 49.1 years (range, 25-67 years). Twelve patients (15 wrists) were available for follow-up. Results: Four hundred eighty-nine wrists underwent a 4CF for SLAC wrist from 1982 to 2003. Radiographs were evaluated and described by the Kellgren-Lawrence classification. Long-term evaluation included standard wrist radiographs, wrist range of motion, and the Quick Disabilities of the Arm, Shoulder and Hand (QuickDASH) questionnaire. Patients with a follow-up period of less than 10 years were excluded. Methods: A retrospective chart review of patients undergoing 4CF as well as an interview and recent radiographs were obtained. We hypothesized that 4CF is a durable surgery with good clinical long-term function. Four-corner fusion (4CF) is performed as salvage surgery, though there is limited information on its long-term results. Kirkīackground: Scapholunate advanced collapse (SLAC) of the wrist is the most common degenerative condition of the wrist.
